Virginia Creeper Trail

Over the Holston River

Easy ride along beautiful farmland

Virginia Creeper Trail

Over the weekend I had an opportunity to go camping on the banks of the Holston River near Alvarado, Virginia,  just yards from the Virginia Creeper Trail. The trail is 35 miles long and runs through Damascus, Virginia, ultimately climbing around 2000 feet up to Whitetop, VA. It is built along an abandoned railroad bed, so there isn't much up and down or quick turns, just straight runs through scenic country, over many trestles, and along farmland.I was only able to ride maybe 3 or so miles, so look forward to going back to ride the entire length at some point.
