North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
I've probably been to a North or South Carolina Beach almost every summer of my life, so I've seen the development and changes that have occurred over the last 40 years. There hasn't been much "progress", but lots of development. I was at North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina a week ago and did notice some pedestrian cross walks that were not installed years back, and there is the charm of some of the older, shabbier beach front downtowns, like Ocean Drive, but overall it's mostly cheap buildings, mediocre food and drink, and heavy traffic unless you are on the beach. The good news is that the beach itself is still beautiful, wide, and breezy, and you can soak up the sun and watch people all day, which is all I really need when I'm there.
