JC Raulston Arboretum
The JC Raulston Arboretum on Beryl Road in Raleigh is a nice spot to visit for a walk and a gander at the many plant species: Formal gardens, whimsical paths, shaded trails, and vegetation spanning from tiny flowering plants to large canopy trees. There is also a fairly new shade structure "lath house" designed by Frank Harmon Architect along with the cast-in-place concrete education center designed by Cherry Huffman Architects.Sometimes I grab lunch with my family at Neomonde (also on Beryl Rd.) then visit the Arboretum.
